Mrs. Wullaya Wattanarat, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) participated in the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation to drive the “safely reopen the city, confidently organize MICE event with standard” project. On this occasion, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, presided over the signing ceremony, with representatives from 23 organizations.
The Memorandum of Understanding on the “safely reopen the city, confidently organize MICE event with standard” cooperation project has the intention to jointly promote and support the safe organization of meetings, incentive travels, conferences, and exhibitions in the city with systematic sanitation and safety standard in business establishments and activities. This include the building of confidence among the people who are service users which will lead to the acceleration and recovery of economy in all regions of Thailand that have been affected by the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Emphasis is made on standard enhancements of service system and business establishments in 10 MICE cities which are the cities that demonstrate high potential and readiness to organize events, namely, Bangkok, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phitsanulok, Phuket, Songkhla, Surat Thani, Udon Thani, and Pattaya under the following cooperation framework and guidelines:
- Promote, support, and propel the organization of events in the group of provinces and local administrative organizations such as meeting, seminars, trade fair and exhibition, and travels in 10 MICE cities based on measures; 2. Enhance the standards on cleanliness, safety, and prevention against the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) of the meeting and exhibition venues, travel, accommodation, event venues, and business establishments in the areas of 10 MICE cities; 3. Promote the development of personnel, knowledge, and technology; 4. Control, supervise, monitor, and provide advice and suggestions on the event organization to be in line with practices to control and prevent the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19); and 5. Communicate and publicize news and information to promote and support business establishments who has good practices in prevention against the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), including the exchange of knowledge and creation of cooperation in various activities between organizations at the local level.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary for the said that the BMA had implemented landscape development in many areas, tourist attraction development covering the areas of 6 district zones, and creation of strong identity of each locality such as Ong Ang Canal, Chao Phraya Sky Park, Phadung Krung Kasem Canal, and Kudi Chin Community. With these, local communities will be prepared and ready to perfectly welcome tourists and MICE travelers who will come to organize any events and activities. Importance is placed on the training and enhancement of knowledge among business operators and relevant personnel so that the tourists and MICE travelers can be assured of safety in life and property as well as sanitation. In this regard, the BMA is pleased to provide full support to the organization of MICE events in the areas of Bangkok Metropolis.
