Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, announced the result of the BMA Communicable Diseases Committee Meeting, No. 7/2021, following the situation of COVID-19 pandemic in several entertainment venues and establishments providing similar services to those of entertainment venues in Bangkok Metropolitan area such as entertainment venues and establishments providing similar services to those of entertainment venues in Thong Lor. From the test of 1,177 specimens during the past three days, 118 COVID-19 infections were detected, 125 people had tested negative, and 934 people were waiting for their test results. Entertainment venues and establishments providing similar services to those of entertainment venues in Bang Khae district found 27 infected cases; in Phasi Charoen district found 3 infected cases; while Lat Phrao district, Huai Khwang district, and Phra Nakhon district found 1 infected case in each district. Therefore, the BMA Communicable Diseases Committee Meeting resolved to order the temporary closure of all entertainment venues, any establishments providing similar services to those of entertainment venues, pubs, bars, and karaoke shops located in Vadhana district and Khlong Toei district where the Thong Lor cluster was found. This includes the temporary closure of all entertainment venues, any establishments providing similar services to those of entertainment venues in Bang Khae district where a large number of COVID-19 infection was detected. As for Lat Phrao district, Huai Khwang district, Phra Nakhon district, and Phasi Charoen district, only the premises where COVID-19 infections were detected will be closed. The temporary closure of premises was ordered during April 6 – 19, 2021 in order to find new cases of COVID-19.

All relevant organizations and officers must work together in inspecting and providing advice to owners and business operators of entertainment venues and establishments providing similar services to those of entertainment venues to strictly comply with prevention and control measures for COVID-19. In case that the COVID-19 situation worsens, members of the BMA Communicable Diseases Committee will be invited for meeting to determine the measures. The BMA will soon make another announcement on the order of temporary closure of premises and preventive measures against COVID-19.
