Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, presided over the opening ceremony of the BMA vocational training school (Prawet), a new vocational training school moved from the BMA vocational training school (Bon Kai). As the traffic condition at Bon Kai area is heavy and congested; the old school building is small and cramped; two BMA vocational training schools have already been in the neighboring areas, namely, in Khlong Toei and Bang Rak; and the land rental fee of the BMA vocational training school (Bon Kai) becomes higher, it is necessary to change the location of this vocational training school.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) received kind cooperation from private sectors in the area who recognize the importance of the vocational training school. In order to expand educational opportunity and enhance occupational knowledge and skills of the general public, these private sectors had provided financial support for the construction of the school buildings without the use of the BMA budget. The school buildings comprise a 4-storey school building, a 3-storey residential building for the school’s personnel, and Nakhon Phan Building. The construction works started from April 1, 2020 and finished on March 30, 2021.

The new BMA vocational training school (Prawet) is considered the biggest and the most modern and perfect BMA vocational training school among the 10 vocational training schools of the BMA. This vocational school will be beneficial for people living in the east of Bangkok as it is the first vocational school in this area. Application for school admission started from April 1, 2021. The school’s learning and teaching activity in the first term of the year 2021 is scheduled on May 17, 2021. There are 32 classrooms with 19 courses such as floristry for career, digital media and video production, professional barista, international food, and installation of solar panels and solar power system. This school can accommodate 2,400 students in each term. Facilities for elderly persons and persons with disabilities are provided such as toilets, lifts, and ramps.
