Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, had a site visit to inspect “Proactive COVID-19 Vaccination Service Unit: Cooperation between Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and PTT Public Company Limited” at Bang Khen School (Wai Sali Anuson) in Lak Si District. This is one of the mobile COVID-19 vaccination service units aiming to solve problem of COVID-19 clusters in the area of Bangkok Metropolis.
The Governor of Bangkok said that the “Proactive COVID-19 Vaccination Service Unit: Cooperation between Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and PTT Public Company Limited” had the main mission to vaccinate clusters of people in densely populated communities located in Bangkok area where there is the considerable high COVID-19 infection rate in the form of cluster, especially patients in communities, people with disabilities, or laborers in construction worker camps all over Bangkok. Construction worker camps in Lak Si District is considered a large cluster that needs COVID-19 vaccination in order to urgently curb the outbreak. This kind of mobile COVID-19 vaccination service unit will be moved to other risk areas throughout Bangkok. In this regard, the BMA would like to thank PTT Public Company Limited, the first private sector who provides assistance and support for the full-service proactive COVID-19 vaccination service unit, and Chulabhorn Royal Academy who supports medical personnel at the proactive COVID-19 vaccination service unit.
The Governor of Bangkok also added in the end about the number of beds for COVID-19 patients in hospitels and the BMA field hospitals. At present, there is more than 2,000 beds. However, due to the increasing number of new COVID-19 cases, almost all of the beds are occupied. In order to accommodate more COVID-19 patients that may be increased, the BMA plans to set up additional hospitels. Currently, it is in the process of contacting hotels who are willing to join the network of the BMA affiliated hospitals.
