The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has adopted the royal initiative of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great on conservation and development of mangrove forests as a guideline to restore mangrove ecosystems and prevent coastal erosion in Bang Khun Thian area by organizing the project called “Plook Pa Nai Chai Khon (Planting Forests in the People’s Hearts) under the King’s Philosophy” Project which has been operating since 2016.

To date, the BMA has received full cooperation from all sectors in supporting “Plook Pa Nai Chai Khon (Planting Forests in the People’s Hearts) under the King’s Philosophy” Project. This is the joint effort to reclaim over 3,000 rai of land and restore coastal ecosystems of the only mangrove forest in Bangkok connecting to the Gulf of Thailand which has been lost from the problem of coastal erosion caused by sea water. After the restoration and recovery, the area will be a nursery for aquatic animals and sustainable natural food source as well as an eco-tourism destination that will help create jobs and generate income for people in the community. Currently, the BMA has been able to plant more than 230 rai (320,000 square meters) of large-leafed mangrove which are native aquatic plants and continues to encourage people to plant them continuously in order to achieve the goal set for 3,000 rai (4,800,000 square meters).

Therefore, interested people are invited to participate in the restoration of mangrove forests at Bang Khun Thian Seashore under the “Plook Pa Nai Chai Khon under the King’s Philosophy” Project by donating money through the donation account “Plook Pa Nai Chai Khon under the King’s Philosophy Foundation” of Krung Thai Bank, Central Plaza Rama 2 branch, account number 986-6-52839-1.

The people who would like to participate in mangrove planting activities can ask for more details at “Plook Pa Nai Chai Khon under the King’s Philosophy Foundation” by calling +66 6 2821 6984 or +66 2415 0138.
