Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, revealed after having site visit to inspect measures for controlling and preventing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the screening of alien laborers working in the fresh market under the Marketing Organization for Farmers (Or Tor Kor Market), Chatuchak District that it was an inspection for prevention and control measures for COVID-19 of this market. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) asks for cooperation from venders to comply with the prevention and control measures for COVID-19. The inspection visit finds that the Or Tor Kor Market has applied measures as prescribed by the BMA to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak. The measures include providing body-temperature screening points, encouraging people to wear sanitary face mask, providing service points for alcohol-based hand sanitizer and keeping social distancing in the market. At present, there are 608 vending stalls in the Or Tor Kor Market where 290 venders and 120 alien laborers work in. On this day, the BMA and the Department of Disease Control under the Ministry of Public Health had jointly provided staff to screen the COVID-19 risk groups. This included conducting nasal SWAB test on 120 alien workers for COVID-19 infection testing. In case that people with COVID-19 symptoms were found, the outbreak prevention measures will be applied on them afterwards. The inspection would be also conducted in 472 markets located in Bangkok. Meanwhile, 56 markets had been already inspected, and the inspection would be conducted continually. It is expected that inspection of the prevention and control measures for COVID-19 in all markets will be completed within a week to ensure safety of the people of Bangkok.
