Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, presided over the executives meeting of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). At the meeting, Bang Khen District Office, Thung Khru District Office, Bang Phlat District Office, Khlong Toei District Office, and Phra Nakhon District Office reported implementation progress according to the Governor’s commands after site visits to discuss with representatives from various communities. Bang Khen District Office has already solved 2 out of 3 issues, namely reconstruction of road surfaces and removal of damaged and abandoned vehicles that obstruct roads and traffic. Thung Khru District Office has 13 issues to attend to and is now coordinating with other related organizations to solve the problems, such as installation of guardrails along canals and construction of speed humps in communities. Bang Phlat District Office has 9 issues, such as dredging of sewer and drainpipes, construction of roads and walkways along canals, and removal of children playthings so that both children and parents can have mutual benefits. Currently, it is in the process of contacting relevant agencies to help solve the problems. Moreover, Bang Phlat District Office received complaints of poor bus service as mass transit buses often drive through underpass and it results in passengers cannot get off at the appointed bus stop. Police station in the area has been informed of this matter and strictly inspected all the traffic in the area. Khlong Toei District Office has 20 issues to be solved which are now in the process of coordinating with other related organizations to solve the problems. Phra Nakhon District Office has 9 issues, for example, installation of CCTV cameras, organization of untidy communication lines and cables, and collection of accumulated waste and 4 issues were completely solved.
Issues that are in progress such as problem on utilities, the district office has coordinated with relevant organizations to solve the problem according to the plan. As for other complaints that need more study on legislation and rules, Legal and Litigation Office was assigned to consider in details and report in the next meeting. Moreover, the meeting also assigned Education Department to find out solutions for the lack of qualified teachers to teach students computer skills and English language as it was found that some schools had learning and teaching tools and equipment but did not have teachers. In this regard, Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, directing and overseeing the works of Education Department and Mr. Vallop Suwandee, Chairman of Advisors to Governor of Bangkok, were assigned to follow up and discuss the solutions to this problem.
Also, the Governor of Bangkok together with the BMA executives will have site visits to distribute rice and instant noodles that are donated by private sectors starting from February 24, 2021 onwards. This aims to alleviate hardships of people amid the situation of COVID-19 pandemic.
