Mr. Sakoltee Phattiyakul, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, had a site visit to inspect the removal of damaged and abandoned vehicles and the cleaning of areas where the vehicles used to park in Bang Rak district. This aimed to solve traffic congestion problem, decrease the pathogen sources, reduce obstacles when responding to emergency situations, minimize impacts on environment, and provide safety and security among the people.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has implemented the project to remove damaged and abandoned vehicles and clean its parking within 100 days in order to reduce and solve traffic congestion problem, decrease the pathogen sources, reduce obstacles when responding to emergency situations, minimize impacts on environment and public health. This project was completed in February 2021 and it could remove 866 damaged and abandoned vehicles all over Bangkok. After that, on the 5th of every month starting from March 2021, all district offices were assigned to survey additional damaged vehicles abandoned in their responsible area and report the number to the BMA City Law Enforcement Department to compile information. Another 90 damaged and abandoned vehicles were found in the area of Bangkok Metropolis. At present, 43 vehicles were towed (40 vehicle were towed by the owners and another 3 by District Office). There are 47 vehicles left to be further removed.
The BMA requests for kind cooperation from the public in case that any damaged and abandoned vehicles are found, please report to City Law Enforcement Section of any district offices and at http://gid.bangkok.go.th/reward/default.php. If the report leads to the arrest and fine collection, those who reported the case will receive half of the collected fine according to the BMA regulation.
