Mrs. Silapasuai Rawisaengsun, Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) had site visits to inspect drainage routes at 8 sites of electric train construction projects, namely, at Chaengwattana Road – 1) Construction site of TOT Station, at the entrance of Soi Chaengwattana 10 and 2) Construction site of Phranakhon Rajabhat University Station, at the area of the temporary bus stop, opposite TOT Public Company Limited (Laksi Telephone Exchange); at Ramkhamhaeng Road – 3) Construction site of Ramkhamhaeng Station, at the entrance of Soi Ramkhamhaeng 13 and 4) Construction site of Hua Mak Station, in front of Rajamangala Stadium; and at Srinagarindra Road – 5) Construction site of Lam Sali Station, at Lam Sali Intersection, 6) Construction site of Patthanakan Station, at Patthanakan Junction, 7) Construction site of Si Udom Station, in front of Novotel Hotel, and 8) Construction site of parking building and Si Iam Station. The Permanent Secretary for the BMA revealed that blockages to water drains were found and the BMA had coordinated with the contractors of the electric train construction projects along the routes to fix the problems within a week. For example, regarding the construction site of the TOT Station at the entrance of Soi Chaengwattana 10, the contractor shall build “Monkey Cheeks” water bank and install water pumps to draw water into the BMA’s drainage system. At for the construction site of Phranakhon Rajabhat Station, the Highway Department will build “Monkey Cheeks” water bank to receive additional water mass in the area of Buddhavijjalaya College, Phranakhon Rajabhat University and another one in the neighboring area. This also included installation of water pump to divert water into Lat Phrao canal.
Meanwhile, the electric train construction project on Srinagarindra Road has damaged the cross pipes of drainage system on both sides of Srinagarindra Road. Therefore, the BMA instructed the construction contractor to fix the problem within 1 week, and to clean up and dredge drain pipes regularly to remove waste, rubble, soil and sand that block the drains. For the construction site of the parking building and Si Iam Station, the BMA ordered the contractor to find way to speed up drainage of water into Khlong Khlet and into the BMA’s water management system.
