Mr. Chawin Sirinak, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), participated in a teleconference to discuss guidelines in providing COVID-19 vaccination service to the elderly as both General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Thailand’s Prime Minister, and Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, had been concerned about the spread of COVID-19 among the elderly. If it becomes a new COVID-19 cluster, there is high risk in having severe illnesses. Initially, the BMA and Ministry of Social Development and Human Security had already inoculated the elderly persons and personnel responsible for taking care of the elderly at Ban Bang Khae I and II Elderly Home. However, many elderly persons living in private elderly care establishments still do not get vaccinated against COVID-19. Therefore, the BMA invited all related organizations to join the meeting and discuss guidelines in providing vaccination service to this target group. Initially, there are 293 private elderly care establishments located in 50 districts of Bangkok. The BMA will expedite the survey of the number of elderly persons in private elderly care centers for effective and appropriate allocation of COVID-19 vaccines.
