Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, led executives of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and related persons to visit demonstration of COVID-19 vaccination rollout and meet with the public at Bang Khun Thian Geriatric Hospital, Bang Khun Thian District.

The BMA will receive 66,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from the Government in the first stage which can be provided to 33,000 people. Meanwhile, the target groups for the first COVID-19 vaccine rollout are as follows: 12,400 medical personnel and frontline public health workers from both government and private sectors are scheduled to be inoculated in the first week. Then in the second week, 1,600 BMA public health volunteers and officials whose work is related to the control COVID-19 pandemic and has close contact with COVID-19 patients will be vaccinated. The next group consists of 47,000 patients with chronic conditions in seven diseases risk groups. The last group is the general public and workforces (aged 18-59 years) of 5,000 people. Anyhow, there are 15 hospitals that join the vaccination service rollout, comprising of 3 BMA affiliated hospitals and 12 private hospitals.

8 steps of building up confidence for safe vaccination

Before vaccination, everyone must check body temperature and wash their hands with alcohol-based hand sanitizer gel. Then, there will be the following COVID-19 vaccination steps: 1. Register (to issue a card) for verification and identification; 2. Check body weight and measure blood pressure; 3. Have a health screening, take medical history and sign the vaccination consent document; 4. Wait to be vaccinated; 5. Get vaccine injection; 6. Rest and wait for 30 minutes to monitor symptoms of possible side effects at the designated area where first aid equipment, doctors, nurses, medical devices and life support equipment are prepared to take care of people who have certain reactions or side effects after a vaccination. After receiving vaccine, people will be asked to scan MorProm official Line account with a post-vaccination advisory on how to use the official account. This account is being used to monitor any reactions and symptoms after vaccination on a round of 1 day, 7 days, and 30 days and send notification to get the second dose of the vaccine. Those who duly received 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine will receive certificate of COVID-19 vaccination via MorProm official Line account; 7. Go through checking point before going home where officer will ask about each person’s conditions after vaccination, offer useful advices and issue appointment card for the second dose, and 8. Comprehensive assessment of all service processes and monitoring of possible adverse side effects and reactions from a vaccination will be displayed on the dash board of MorProm official Line account to ensure safety and vaccination effectiveness to the public.
