Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, revealed after the inspection visit on the provision of COVID-19 vaccination service at the Bang Khun Thian Geriatric Hospital that, “Due to the fact that the past 2-3 days were the national holidays, today more than 500 people come for vaccination service. As there are many steps such as taking history, measuring blood pressure, and so on; the service provision is quite slow. Many vaccine recipients need to wait a long time. Therefore, Bang Khun Thian District Office is assigned to bring in computers and arrange officers to support the work at vaccination service unit with the aim to reduce waiting time and provide faster service.”
In this regard, the Bang Khun Thian Geriatric Hospital is also the BMA field hospital opened to accommodate COVID-19 patients in the area of Bangkok Metropolis. The hospital has 500 beds, and now more than 400 beds are occupied. Thus, the BMA plans to open additional section in the compound of the Bang Khun Thian Geriatric Hospital as the 2nd phase to accommodate the rising number of COVID-19 patients in the future. The beds will be increased to 500 beds; adding up to the existing 500 beds, the total beds is 1,000. It is expected to open for service on April 19, 2021.
