Pol.Lt.Gen. Sopon Pisuttiwong, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, presided over the meeting of the BMA’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (BMA-CCSA), No.21/2021.
The meeting discussed the situation of COVID-19 pandemic in Bangkok Metropolitan area. At present, the situation tends to be better. Therefore, the meeting urged district offices and other organizations to actively inspect establishments, businesses, and activities granted with relaxation of measures, especially pubs, bars, and karaoke shops, so that the owners, business operators, and service users strictly comply with measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 specified by the Government.
Extension of active case finding areas to districts connecting Pathum Thani province
In the past, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and other related organizations had conducted active case findings in business establishments, markets, and communities in the areas of Nong Khaem District, Bang Khun Thian District, Bang Khae District, Chom Thong District, Bang Bon District, and Phasi Charoen District. These districts have areas connected to Samut Sakhon province and various cases of COVID-19 infection are found. Active case findings were also conducted in various premises and with many people. According to information on disease investigation starting from December 18, 2020 until present (as of March 1, 2021), there are 66,157 samples for active case findings and 126 Covid-19 infections have been detected. In this regard, the BMA and other related organizations determined the plan for additional active case findings in communities and neighboring areas of Pathum Thani Province, namely Donmueang District, Lak Si District, Bang Khen District, Sai Mai District, and Khlong Sam Wa District. Biosafety mobile unit granted by Their Majesties the King and Queen for infectious disease testing will be used to collect COVID-19 test specimens (swabs) during March 11 – 31, 2021. Swabs will be randomly conducted among people in every communities registered with the BMA, 50 people from each community.
Regarding long-term prevention for the spread of COVID-19 in areas connecting Samut Sakhon province, the BMA together with network partners organized capacity building training program for alien healthcare volunteers in Bangkok Metropolitan area with 70 participants who are alien workers from 9 business establishments. The participants received knowledge on COVID-19, roles and duties in disease surveillance in community, community survey, and disease screening. One representative from each factory was selected to act as a chief and contact person for further communication and coordination with public health officers. Each participant was assigned to survey health condition of their neighbors, 10 households per one participant, using the form provided by the organizers so that the prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic proceed continuously in the future.
