Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, had a site visit to inspect the preparedness of the special inpatient ward or “Hospitel” of Sirindhorn Hospital, at Elegant Airport Hotel, Kanchanaphisek Road, Prawet District.
The Elegant Airport Hotel in Prawet District is the first hospitel of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). It comprises 2 seven-story buildings, one of the buildings is used as the State Qualantine (SQ) facility and the other building is planned to be converted into hospitel with the total number of 230 guest rooms. This hospitel can provide standard treatment and caring services to patients infected with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) with medical personnel take care of them for 24 hours. Patients who can use the service of hospitel must meet the 5 criteria as follows: 1. The Patients must have been admitted to hospital for 4 – 7 days and has chest x-ray photo showing stable lung condition. In case of new patients, they must be the confirmed COVID-19 cases, aged less than 50 years, who exhibit little to no symptoms without any risks or other conditions, and have chest x-ray photo showing normal lung condition; 2. The patients must agree and be pleased to cooperate with the medical personnel, be able to communicate with other people, be able to take care of themselves, and must not be aggressive with the risk of mental illness; 3. The patients must not have fever. For those who have medical condition, they must have stable condition and take only oral medications; 4. Medications must be fully provided for the patients to take by themselves to complete the treatment plan of the doctor; and 5. The original hospital must agree to transport the patients back for treatment in the original hospital if the symptoms of patients changes. The hospitel will gradually receive patients on the following dates: April 26, 2021 (70 rooms), April 30, 2021 (80 rooms), May 15, 2021 (40 rooms), and May 30, 2021 (40 rooms).
