Dr. Wantanee Wattana, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), had a site visit to inspect the compliance with Government’s measures to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 at Sino-Thai construction worker camp in Lat Phrao District. On this occasion, the Deputy Permanent Secretary also gave advice on health and sanitary care for quarantine of the patients who are waiting for being admitted to the hospitals and the closed contacts, emphasizing the strict compliance with the measures.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary revealed that the visit today was for the inspection of measures for prevention and control of the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in construction worker camp which was announced as the quarantine area with “Bubble and Seal” measure. Lat Phrao District Office together with officers from the BMA Public Health Center in the area have already conducted disease investigation and quarantined the high-risk contacts in Sino-Thai construction worker camp. Information as of June 7, 2021 indicates that among the total number of 322 construction workers, 25 persons have been infected (7.76%). All of the infected persons from this construction worker camp were sent and admitted to hospitals and field hospitals. The camp is now closed and enforced under the strict measures specified by the Government. This includes the improvement of sanitation inside the construction worker camp as well as cleaning and disinfection of all workers’ dormitory. In addition, the high risk contacts were isolated and they were ordered to stay in the camp only. Interpreters were hired to give knowledge, create better understanding, and give advice on practice guidelines to protect themselves from COVID-19 to people who are in isolation in the camp to control and prevent the spread of disease in the area.
