Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, revealed after having a site visit to inspect the BMA affiliated schools on the first day of the 1/2021 term, that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) by Education Department has got all teachers and education personnel ready for the arrangement of learning and teaching activities during the situation of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Today is the opening day of the first term of the academic year 2021 for all 437 BMA affiliated schools. 5 “ONs” learning and teaching methods have been applied, namely Online, On-Air, On-Hand, On-Site and On School’s LINE. However, as the spread of COVID-19 is now on-going, students are not allowed to go to school normally, the BMA has decided to provide Online, On-Air, and On-Hand learning and teaching activities. On School’s LINE is a new learning and teaching method introduced by the BMA as most of the parents or guardians of students use LINE Application in daily-life communication. Moreover, LINE groups have already been set up with teachers and they are easy to use. It can also be adjusted for effective learning and teaching activities. For parents or guardians of students who do not have communication devices, students will study using On-Hand learning and teaching method. Parents or guardians of students will receive assignments and exercises from teachers for students to do at home. Schools will conduct assessment every week on both teachers and students to check whether the learning and teaching activities have been effective and achieve the predetermined goals or not. Nevertheless, online learning and teaching activities are quite difficult to make students interested in lessons or what is being taught. Teachers need to discover new and interesting method or format of learning and teaching to attract and keep students’ attention to reach higher efficiency.
